Friends of Children’s Place,

“Once upon a time” is a phrase to which we can all relate. We recall it fondly as the opening line to our childhood imagination and wonder. This year’s Once Upon a Time gala and its Speakeasy Soiree theme is an expression of resilience and grit; further, it demonstrates the power of resolve. As Children’s Place Association reaffirms its commitment to medically fragile children living in poverty, we do so on the heels of a pandemic and during a time when the child opportunity indices in the communities where our youth live are abysmal and, unfortunately, still declining. Our communities also struggle with equitable access to mental health services which is a vital factor in these communities’ ability to recover. Your support of the gala bolsters our effort to provide our youth and families with the robust services they deserve so that they can have their Once Upon a Time, not only to imagine but also to realize a life unmarred by poverty and all the wonder that it brings.
