August gave us so much to celebrate. From preschool graduation and back-to-school excitement to Joie and Wendi’s 5th annual Pickleball event, summer camp fun with the Vitality Group, a life-changing trip to Africa, and incredible support from IICF and Allied World Insurance, the month was packed with joy and community spirit. What a way to end the summer.

Supplies Needed
Back to school isn’t over yet! We will continue to collect supplies through September. Visit our Amazon Wish List and help our kids get off to a strong start this year.

Huge thanks to the Joie and Wendi Group from @properties | Christie’s International Real Estate for hosting a fantastic 5th Annual Pickleball Open Play! With incredible energy, generosity, and support (a special shoutout to Randi!), this year’s event raised over $13,000. Together, over the past five years, nearly $50,000 has been raised for our kids and families. We are so thankful for your partnership.

Worldly Partnerships
We are grateful to our friends at Allied World Insurance Company for joining us at our Early Learning graduation celebration and for their generous donation. Ronda, Alyson, Debi, Jack, and Sylvia brought their time, energy, and kindness to help make the day truly special for our children and families.
Pickleball Fun
Thank you to the IICF Midwest Associate Board for hosting Paddle for a Purpose, benefiting Children’s Place Association. With more than 32 teams competing and over 100 attendees, the Chicago insurance community came together to make a difference for our children and families. We are grateful for your generosity and proud to share that the event also supported Inspiration Corporation and The Woodlawn Project.

Back to School
A special thank you to our partners at Cotter Consulting for collecting back-to-school supplies for the third consecutive year! Your generosity is making a real difference in the lives of the children we serve.

Child Thrive
Month in Review
Child Thrive wrapped up a summer full of creativity, learning, and fun. From art and STEM to swimming and field trips, our Thrivers explored new interests, built confidence, and made memories that will last. They returned to school feeling energized and ready for what’s ahead. Our team is now busy preparing exciting Fall programming at KIPP One Academy.

CPA shoutout goes to:
-
Keep Your Heart Healthy, Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine, for leading a four-week cooking series with our Thrivers.
-
Goldfish Swim School- for providing weekly swim lessons that built confidence in and out of the water.
-
Vitality Group for hosting a creative and engaging origami workshop with our Thrivers.
Early Learning Center
Month in Review
A mix of endings and beginnings marked this month as we celebrated last year’s graduations and welcomed back our students for the 2025-2026 program year. They are settling into new classrooms, making friends, and getting to know their teachers, starting the year with excitement and curiosity.

Foster Care and Adoption
Month in Review
This month, we supported children and their families as they prepared for the back-to-school season. From physicals and supplies to uniforms and transportation, our team worked to ensure every child started the year ready to learn.
CPA shoutout goes to:
-
Linda O’Daniel, our new Licensing & Recruitment Coordinator, has hit the ground running by introducing herself to licensed foster parents and completing a record number of licensing monitoring visits.
-
Martha and Almeta for volunteering to pick up and distribute donated school supplies for Foster Care client families.
International

Children’s Place International is thrilled to welcome Dr. Nancy Siepman to our Board of Directors.
A global leader in pharmaceutical development and ethics, Nancy brings decades of experience from her work at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, where she delivered transformative treatments and championed health equity.
During the visit, they discussed ways to strengthen cancer care, expand an education program that supports hospitalized children with meals, feeding pumps, and teacher salaries, and explore additional support for children with sickle cell disease.
We’re honored to partner with KCMC to help children in Tanzania recover and continue their education.
