Group Volunteer Opportunities
"At Children's Place I can just be me, and it provides an outlet for my skills in leadership, organization and creativity. Staff know they can count on me in any area. My penchant for hospitality works well with people, both as part of a team and those being served." - Mary Shimandle, volunteer since 2003
The Children's Place Association is happy to work with groups who can make a commitment to volunteering for a special project. Groups interested in volunteering should consider participating in one of our Group Volunteer opportunities. These include:
- Client Parties: Provide set-up or tear-down support for one of our client parties as well as interact with the children and families in attendance.
- Gardening/Clean-Up Projects: Put that green thumb to use and help us plant flowers in the spring or prepare our grounds for Chicago's winter months.
- Special Events: Help with set-up, event logistics, greeting, tear-down or one of the other many activities that help our fundraising events run smoothly. Events include among others the annual spring Gala and fall AIDS Run and Walk.
Group Volunteer Age Requirements:
- Client party volunteers must be 18 years of age or older
- Gardening/clean-up or special event volunteers must be at least 16 years of age
Group Size Requirements:
- Client party - 10 to 20 volunteers (dependent on event)
- Gardening/clean-up project - 5 to 10 volunteers
- Special events - Between 5 and 100 volunteers (dependent on the event)
