John Sweeney – Director of Strategic & International Programs
John Sweeney joined The Children’s Place Association in January 2007 as the director of international programs and moved to his current position of director of strategic & international programs in April 2010. As the director John is responsible for managing international program activities for The Children’s Place Association and is currently focused on programming in Haiti and Guyana. In addition, John works on both domestic and international strategic fundraising and program initiatives.
John brings 18 years of international management experience including living and working in Kenya, Francophone Africa, and South East Asia. He served as executive director of AID Village Clinics, an organization working to address infectious disease, including HIV/AIDS, with clinics in Kenya.
Additionally, John worked for Baxter Healthcare’s Global Marketing Group where he focused on South East Asia and Europe. He served as a Peace Corp volunteer in Gabon, Africa and speaks French fluently.
John holds a master’s degree in business administration from Northwestern University in international management and a bachelor’s degree from Villanova University.
