SUMMARY:
-
The Respite Worker is on-call to provide in-home respite care on an as-needed basis for all agency clients. This may include emergency interventions, planned periods of assistance and programmatic recreational and therapeutic activities during periods in which the children of client-families may need increased supervision. This is a Part-Time position, requiring the ability to work with multiple children at one time, a flexible schedule, and availability after 3 pm.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma
- 2 years of direct work with children and families.
- Experience with HIV/AIDS community preferred.
- Ability to work in different areas of Chicago (North Side, South Side, and West Side) preferred.
- Spanish Speaking/bilingual
- Training in culturally-related competence and sensitivity.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Providing prescribed childcare in support of the service plan goals for no less than 4 hours per visit.
- Building rapport with families while participating with them in their homes, in the community, and at agency sites.
- Communicating effectively with all levels of agency staff to ensure positive outcomes in client services.
- Providing a therapeutic experience for the children through talk and play in order to meet the emotional needs of each assigned client.
- Developing cooperative relationships with clients and families, agency staff, referral sources, and all interested individuals in order to provide effective services for clients and to promote the programs of the agency.
